Dr Encarna Micó-Amigo Presents at MDPI’s International Women in Engineering Day Webinar 2026

On 23 June 2026, Dr Encarna Micó-Amigo took part in the MDPI International Women in Engineering Day (INWED) Webinar 2026, an online event celebrating the achievements of women in engineering under the 2026 theme “Engineering Intelligence,” aligned with UN Sustainable Development Goal 5 (Gender Equality).

Wearable Sensors for Real-World Health Monitoring: Algorithms and Applications

Encarna presented her work on developing and validating algorithms for extracting biometrics from wearable sensor data, drawing on SUPERLab’s research into monitoring anti-Parkinsonian medication effects, lower-limb prosthesis use, and physical activity in real-world settings.

About the MDPI INWED Webinar

International Women in Engineering Day (INWED), observed annually on 23 June, celebrates the achievements of women in engineering while inspiring more young women to pursue engineering careers.

MDPI’s webinar brought together women engineers from across the world — spanning power systems, catalysis, wearable health sensing, photonics, and optical biosensing — to share their research and career journeys.
